Future Rent Program - El Paso
El Paso, Texas — Tenants in El Paso may receive up to three months of future rent relief thanks to the Texas Home Program and Under One Roof, a local nonprofit authorized to administer the program.
Under One Roof is a 501(c)3 organization established by the El Paso Apartment Association (EPAA) to provide financial and other support to residents of El Paso County who have been harmed by disasters such as fire, flood or pandemic.
Tenants with household income at or below 80% of Adjusted Median Family Income and who have lost income due to COVID-19 are eligible to apply. Tenants include anyone who resides in an apartment, duplex or any property for which they pay rent. Tenants may apply for up to 3 months of rent and utilities. Payments will be made directly to the landlords.
This program is separate from the EP Rent Help Program, which is administered by the Paso Del Norte Community Foundation, in conjunction with Under One Roof. The EP Rent Help Program is designed for past due rent and is funded by federal Cares Act funds. The Texas Home Program is funded through the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs.
“El Paso is fortunate to these rental assistance programs in place and I strongly encourage landlords and tenants to take advantage of both programs,” said Ruby Imai, President of the El Paso Apartment Association.
The El Paso Apartment Association recommends that tenants work in conjunction with their landlords to complete the application. EPAA has created a video tutorial and a Frequently Asked Questions section to assist applicants with the process.
The application and detailed information is available at EPAA.org.
