Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
1. I can’t upload my document using the link you provided?
Try switching devices or browsers. The upload feature works on all Macs and iPhones using Safari. It also works on laptops with Microsoft Edge or Firefox. Most people experience trouble trying to use an Android phone.
2. How long will the process take?
Once we receive a completed and correct application, we typically receive approval from the State in 60 days. Keep in mind, we have received thousands of applications so we have quite a backlog to go through.
3. How do I get an update on my application?
Visit our website and click on Rental Assistance. You will find a link to check the status of your application. This is an automated process and it will generate an e-mail to the e-mail address you list. It can take as long as 30-minutes to receive a response.
4. Who do I contact if I have questions?
E-mail all questions to rent@epaa.org
5. Is there a phone number I can call to speak to someone?
We kindly ask that you first search our website to see if the information you are looking for is already posted. The sheer volume of phone calls we receive prevents our staff members from processing applications. Currently, we spend more time answering questions than we do processing applications. We realize this is a difficult time for you and it is hard to be patient but please make the attempt
6. When will I hear something about my application?
Initially, you will receive an e-mail confirmation that we received your application. After that, you will not hear anything until we get to your application. The entire process takes at least 60 days. After about 45 days, someone should be contacting you. Once you are contacted, the process moves fast. If you have submitted your application within the last 45 days, there is nothing else for you to do but wait until our staff contacts you.
7. My landlord is requesting proof that I applied for the program. Do you have anything you can provide?
Unfortunately, we do not. We encourage you to work with your landlord and continue to pay rent to the best of your ability. You can show your landlord your confirmation e-mail, but we are unable to provide any additional proof.
